Winners of the 2008 Lord Mayor’s Business Awards

It is with great pleasure that I congratulate the nine winners of my prestigious Lord Mayor's Business Awards.

This is the third year for the Awards, now recognised as a signature event for rewarding business excellence.

All nominees for the Lord Mayor’s Business Awards demonstrate enormous creativity across both traditional and new-economy sectors. And the winners are major contributors to the growth of Brisbane's economy.

It is these companies that help to characterise Brisbane as an emerging world-class player, and an international city to watch.

I look forward to hearing of their future victories, as they continue to place Brisbane on the world map. And, I wish them every success as they continue to lead Australia's fastest-growing city.

The Brisbane economy is the engine room of Queensland, playing a significant role in the growth and prosperity of the State. This success is in no small part due to the innovation and entrepreneurial spirit driven by Brisbane’s businesses. The Awards program provides a valuable opportunity to promote the crucial role of the thriving business community.

I encourage all those who participated in 2008 to join us again in 2009. It will be a testing year for businesses across the globe, however I am confident Brisbane will continue to be a driving force in the Australian economy.
