Brisbane City Council
Brisbane City Council is serious about Brisbane becoming a smart, prosperous city and is committed to good corporate citizenship as a key foundation for this outcome.
Through projects like the multi-billion dollar TransApex plan, which includes the $3 billion Clem 7 Tunnel and the Hale Street Link, Council is working with the State Government and the private sector to provide the underpinning infrastructure required for Brisbane's economic growth.
The Lord Mayor's Business Awards is another way that Council is working to grow our economy. By profiling Brisbane's best businesses, the awards inspire other business people to achieve, which in-turn creates a healthy economy for Brisbane residents.
Council also has a comprehensive plan for the future economic development of Brisbane, the Brisbane Economic Development Plan 2006-2011 which aims to ensure our standard of living increases now and in the future. The plan harnesses resources across the community to:
- position Brisbane as a leading destination for business both nationally and internationally,
- attract investment and jobs to the city,
- deliver infrastructure to underpin economic growth,
- ensure areas vital to Brisbane's economic growth are productive,
- provide a capable workforce, and
- grow export markets.
