Whatever’s going on in South East Queensland, we’re behind it.

With more than 85 years industry experience, ENERGEX is one of Australia’s largest and fastest-growing corporations with almost 4000 staff working in a range of roles to supply electricity to a population of around 2.8 million people in South East Queensland.

This government owned corporation owns assets over $7.6 billion including almost 50,000km of underground and overhead electricity lines and cables, over 600,000 power poles, some 42,000 transformers and more than 295,000 street lights.

ENERGEX’s primary focus is to provide safe and economic delivery of reliable electricity to customers with a vision to set new standards of excellence in this delivery of customer’s energy needs.

More than a quarter of Australia’s population growth over the next 25 years is expected in South East Queensland pushing Brisbane ahead of Melbourne as the country’s second largest city.

With more than 55,000 new residents moving to South East Queensland every year, ENERGEX is delivering an ambitious infrastructure program to meet customer demand for electricity. A multi-billion dollar five-year capital investment and maintenance program will:

  • increase network capacity to meet forecast demand and peak demand growth
  • improve network security and reduce the amount of electricity load at risk
  • improve overall reliability
  • renew older assets to maintain network reliability and improve network security

ENERGEX also remains committed to working with the community and regional groups. Community consultation and sponsorships remain a key consideration for ENERGEX during this time of immense growth in order reinforce and maintain the understanding of customers.

These challenges will be met with a continued investment in a highly skilled and dedicated workforce whose expertise and efficiency are respected by customers. There’s a lot happening in our region. Whatever’s going on in South East Queensland, we’re behind it.
